Thank God

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-city/bs-md-ci-tshamba-trial-day6-20110609,0,1163379.story

I haven't read a better story in days. A cop was sent to jail for killing someone. How should we celebrate (not the killing part, the jail part)?!

If you either don't know anything about anarchists or have never lived in an inner city, let me explain my joy. Cops are some of my most-despised people on earth, after business executives and hipsters. There are a lot of valid reasons to hate the police, so let me list a few:
  1. Cops enforce the law, regardless of how sane the law is. Let's say you had a tough week, and you worked 40 hours. You're driving home on Friday night and you decide "Hey, let me go pick up some cocaine to relax" (does cocaine make you relax? Probably not. I have no idea). So you make a quick stop at your dealer's house. You have the coke in the passenger's seat. You're not planning on doing any until you get home. And just then, a cop pulls you over. And not only does he take the cocaine that you worked hard for, he throws you in jail! And you did nothing wrong. You just violated a stupid, ineffective law.But it doesn't have to be cocaine, if that example makes you uncomfortable. It could be sodomy (sodomy laws were struck down by the Supreme Court but are still on the books in many states) or drinking alcohol on your porch. You're not harming anyone, but a cop will ruin your life because he wants a paycheck.
  2. Cops kill. Cops rape. Cops beat people. And they get away with it by screaming "Police!" as you lie dead for daring to be a black man holding a wallet. And then those very same cops get away with it.
  3. Cops draw their guns on unarmed 13-year olds. When I was in 8th Grade, I had a gun pulled on me by a cop. I was told to "get on the goddamned ground" while he illegally searched my pockets and my friend's backpack. My crime? I was being a stupid 8th grader, and blew up an Axe can. Not like I blew it up at anyone, it was in a field. I then had to sit on a curb for 40 minutes while they interrogated my friend and I separately. So excuse me for hating cops. Not only did one of them do this to me, but a half-dozen others came to watch and participate. And I hear stories like this all the time. Every other kid has a story like this. If you think brutality is a few bad apples, you really need to look outside of the suburbs.
So yes, let's celebrate this conviction! Because it doesn't happen often.

Strauss-Kahn Should Be Put In Jail For Being The Head Of The IMF

Strauss-Kahn is on trial for the sexual assault and attempted rape of an African maid in his hotel. I have an ironic tale on this. Around a month ago I went to a protest againt the IMF in DC. We had a midnight walk to the IMF. Along the way, someone on the street yelled "Who the hell are the IMF? What the hell do they do?" and, amazingly, someone next to me yelled back "They're fat, white, ***holes who rape the third world". This prophet has guessed it correctly (allegedly). But not only should Strauss-Kahn be locked up if he actually did rape the maid, but he should be locked up for a life-sentence regardless, for being the head of the IMF. I mean, it's the IMF. They've been causing third-world nations to take their money and default on the debt for years. Billions of people have been hurt or killed by Strauss-Kahn before he ever touched this maid. And for that, he should be put in jail.

Pawlenty Is Kind Of An Idiot

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/07/tim-pawlenty-economic-policy_n_872304.html

Pawlenty said that Obama is a "champion practioner of class warfare", which makes sense if you're 12. Little to Pawlenty's little knowledge, no one can "practition" class warfare. Class warfare has always existed and will always exist in capitalism. Pawlenty goes on to utter that Obama is "fanning the flames of class envy and resentment", which is a GOOD thing. Not that I believe Obama is doing that, he's not, but how are we supposed to reach equality if the lower class agrees that they deserve less than the rich? Does Pawlenty want the poor to go "Oh, thank god we have rich people to lord over us and keep us in line. I hope they get richer"? Well, that's a stupid question. Of course he does. Pawlenty is bourgois, and thus he wants the bourgois to stay in power. It's not that that surprises me. It's the nerve he has saying it aloud. The fact that our society has made this kind of speech acceptable is detestable.

If the Queen today said "Let them eat cake" the people would support that measure whole-heartedly.
